Day 3: Its setting in....

I'm really in Uganda...and even though my family is from Africa and I love that...I miss the comforts of home. I am starting to get sad as I look at people's facebook... I know this experience is going to have a positive impact on me but I still miss being in my comfortable room with my own space, TV and such...I will appreciate all those things so much more when I get back. Anyway tomorrow I will be travelling from Kampala (the capital) to Mbale (where I'll be doing my work with TASO). Tonight we're going to go to a Mexican restuarant/bar (lol)...we'll see how the margaritas are!

glad you made it safely to the motherland. i know its tough over there not having the simple luxuries that we all take for granted but i know you can get through it. remember what youre there to do and do it well. im proud of you..."Did you ever know, that youre my HHHHHHEEEEERRRRRROOOOOOO! Youre the wind beneath my wings." lol. anyway, enjoy hanging out today and be careful on them roads. dont need you getting hurt. I'll be praying for you.

  2. so glad you made it safely ls!

what you're experiencing now is a bit of culture shock, and it's good for you. you're an african in africa. and though you're not among your native clan there are values that we all share which have been largely phased out of the western world. reject instilled notions of ethnocentrism and appreciate that there is more than one way to do things. i encourage you not only to "suck it up" but to embrace and welcome it.

it is in these periods of isolation that we are forced to face ourselves. i can't even begin to tell you how much of a blessing it will be once you come through to the other side of all that God has called you to be. i look forward to following your journey. love you.

  3. Thanks for including us on your journey! I'm so proud of you for seizing this opportunity and I know that you'll be a much more complete person after this. The most intense and emotional spiritual moment I have ever had was when first touched down in the motherland...it was like "This is where we're from; this is where we belong."

I'm always praying for you, LS. I love you. Please come back to us safe
